BAPTISM
What is Baptism?
Baptism can be defined as a sacrament in which a believer is immersed in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as a sign and seal of their allegiance with Christ (and His Kingdom), their cleansing from sin, and their incorporation into the Church.
At HC, we have a process to prepare each candidate for baptism, so we ask people to sign up at least one month before a baptism service (which occur every 3-4 months).

Please note: the baptism registration does not guarantee that you will be baptized at HC the following baptism service. This registration starts the conversation, and your guide and you will determine if this is your next best stop.

Simply put, Jesus commanded us to do it (Matt 28:19). Think about it this way: If a husband loves his wife, he would wear his wedding ring to display — He wouldn’t hide it. In the same way, if we say love Jesus, then we should desire to tell the world about it!
-
At Home Church, we believe that baptism is for the believer. If you were baptized before you made the conscious decision to do so (i.e. infant baptism), then we encourage you to consider getting baptized again.
If you got baptized when your faith was genuine, then we ask that you reconsider if baptism is the next step for you.

At Home Church, we do not practice infant baptism because we hold that baptism is reserved for the believer. We do offer baby dedications, in which you commit to raising your child in the church and we commit to raising them alongside of you. This is in accordance with scripture in the same way Samuel was brought to the temple, as well as Jesus (1 Sam. 1:21-28, Luke 2:22-23).

Part of baptism means committing to a church. Baptism at Home Church is for those who call Home Church their church.
We ask that all baptism participants commit to going through Pathways (Home Church Membership).
We believe while baptism is a personal decision, it is a communal responsibility of the church to walk alongside of you in your faith journey.
-
You, a leader, and 1-2 other participants will go through two different sessions. One session is on the gospel, and the other session is about baptism.
This is a requirement for baptism at HC, but is meant to help prepare you for baptism and give you the best opportunity to understand the significance of the event. -
